List of picking tasks

Picking products from the warehouse according to the picking task

The warehouse worker selects the task, scans the barcode of the reusable tag attached to the order, and forms boxes for the products. Multiple boxes may be used for a single task.

Task Form for Order Assembly

After scanning or entering the barcode of the box, the task form opens, displaying a list of required items with the specified quantity or weight for each.

For each item, the storage location is provided.

Order lines are sorted by storage locations to optimize the picker’s route and prevent unnecessary backtracking.

Picking items from the warehouse

For easy selection of items from the warehouse, the picker approaches the appropriate storage location and scans the barcode on the box. If needed, the batch number can be manually entered by clicking the 'Enter barcode manually' button.

To ensure accuracy and control, a check is made to verify whether the scanned batch is in the task. If the batch is not found in the list, the system will automatically display the message: 'Batch with barcode […] not found!'

If the scanned barcode corresponds to an item in the task, a screen appears where the picker needs to input the quantity (for items in pieces) or weight (for items in kilograms). The picker collects the required quantity from the warehouse and records it in the system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Product Returns and Continuation of Picking

To adjust the quantity or weight, the '+' and '-' buttons are used. Alternatively, the value can be manually entered using the virtual keyboard by tapping on the current quantity (or weight).

For weight-based products, a simplified option is available: if an individual label has a barcode with the encoded weight, the app allows scanning the barcode for automatic weight entry.

Product Returns and Continuation of Picking

If all selected items for a specific position need to be returned to the box, the picker can press the 'Cancel' button. This will reset the quantity (or weight) changes, and the app will return to the task's item list screen.

If the storage location contains multiple boxes with different product batches and one of them runs out of stock, the picker presses the 'Continue' button. The app will register the entered quantity, close the input screen, and return to the task's item list.

The picker then scans the barcode on the label of the next box and continues picking from another product batch.

Once the required quantity for the position is fulfilled, the app will highlight the item name in green. To proceed with picking other items from the warehouse, the picker presses the 'Continue' button. The app will close the quantity input screen and return to the task's item list.

Viewing task information

On the task list screen, items are displayed as follows: Green background — items that have been fully picked; Yellow background — items that have been started but not yet completed; White background — items that have not been started.

If the picker selects an item for which picking has already started, the app will open the 'Task Line Details' screen, displaying detailed information:
  • Product name;
  • Storage location number;
  • Picked quantity (or weight);
  • Total required quantity (or weight) for the task;
  • Box number, including the quantity (or weight) of this item in the box;
  • Batch number with the quantity (or weight) of units in this batch;

Changing the Current Box

Box switching occurs when the previous box is full or when products need to be picked into a different box already assigned to the task.

To change the box, the picker presses the 'Change Box' button on the task screen. This opens a screen with a list of boxes associated with the task. The picker can select an existing box or attach a new one.

To open a new box, press 'Open New Box',scan the barcode of a reusable tag, and attach it to the new box. The barcode of the new tag will be linked to the task.

Completing the Picking Process

Once all task items are picked, they are displayed on a green background, and a message under the client's name indicates that the picked quantity (or weight) matches the planned quantity (or weight), taking permissible tolerances into account.

To complete the picking process, the picker must press the 'Complete' button.

The app checks whether all items in the task have been picked. If all items are picked, the task is closed and displayed with a green background in the task list.

If the picking is fully completed, the app prompts:'All items have been picked. Are you sure you want to complete the task? Yes / No.' Pressing 'No' allows the picker to continue picking. Selecting 'Yes' closes the task, and it is displayed with a blue background in the task list. This indicates the task is considered completed, even if some items were not picked due to insufficient stock.
